With the annual winter choral concert just days away, final touches are being made and changes marked as the three student choirs prepare to showcase their talents.
The Concert Chorale will be performing four pieces: “Sleep”, “Witness”, “For Good” and “Kyrie Eleison." While the numbers this time around have required a lot of practice, junior Leanna Mullen says that all of their hard work has been worth it.
“I’ve really enjoyed all of these songs, especially ‘For Good’ because it’s from the musical Wicked,” Mullen said. “It’s fun to sing songs that you know and that the audience will know.”
Students in Concert Choir are equally excited about their new music selections. They will be debuting four titles as well: “Loch Lomond”, “So It Goes”, “Rise Up In Festive Song” and “Promise Land”.
“The concert should be pretty good,” sophomore Lyn Keren said. “We have been working hard on all the pieces, especially the newer ones like ‘Loch Lomond’. It’s really beautiful.”
Rounding out the program is the Freshman Choir, boasting impressive vocal chords despite their small statures. They too will add four numbers: “Cantate Domino”, “Homage”, “December’s Keep” and “Little David Play On Your Harp”. While winter is not typically a popular season among students, many found the piece “December’s Keep” to be their favorite.
“I absolutely love it, and I think the audience will too,” freshman Allie Mullen said. “It fits the theme of the winter concert very nicely.”
These talented young vocalists have put in a great amount of time and effort to make this one of the best winter choral concerts yet and assure viewers will not be disappointed. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 13, in the high school auditorium. Admission is $3.00 for students, $5.00 for adults and $10.00 for families.
